Guest Composer, Guest Conductor, and Guest Clinician for Spring 2019
The Campus Community Band welcomes back Dr. Caron Collins as Guest Conductor, Sara Bongo as Guest Composer, and Kevin Tims as Guest Clinician for a debut of an original contemporary piece, "A World in Crisis". Composer, Sara Bongo, describes her piece: the opening refrain represents hot spots of global tension, dissonance helps us to imagine the depths of pain experienced by people in turmoil, and the lighter flag waves of the woodwinds bespeak their dreams. Marching tones portray further conflict, yet we can hear towards the end the softeneing sounds of the continuing process of peace. As Jimi Hendrix so aptly put it: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace".
The Campus Community Band welcomes Dr. Joshua Roach for the 2018-2019 season!
Dr. Caron Collins, has been appointed as Department Chair of Music Education at the Crane School of Music and therefore will not be directing the Campus Community Band this season. Our visiting director, Dr. Joshua Roach will be leading our band this year. Prior to coming to Potsdam, he served as the Director of Bands at The College of New Jersey.
